Specialty Systems services

Specialty services cover systems that do not fit the usual split-system mold: package units that sit on the ground or roof, HVAC in manufactured and mobile homes, and condensate drains that clog, leak or trip float switches.

Package units put the whole system in one outdoor cabinet, so ducts connect through a wall or roof. Manufactured homes usually have down-flow furnaces or air handlers and ducts under the floor that can disconnect or get damaged by pests.

Every air conditioner and high-efficiency furnace makes water that has to drain away. Algae clogs, broken traps and failed condensate pumps cause water damage and system shutdowns, especially in humid climates and attic installations.

FAQ

Specialty Systems questions

What is a package unit?+

An HVAC system with the compressor, coils and blower (and often a gas heater) in one outdoor cabinet, connected to the house by ducts.

Can manufactured homes use a heat pump?+

Yes. Many manufactured homes use heat pumps or package units, as long as the equipment is approved for manufactured housing.

Why does my AC shut off and leak water?+

A clogged condensate drain often trips a float switch that shuts the system off to prevent overflow. Clearing the drain usually fixes it.
